Miles McPherson played for four years in the NFL with the San Diego Chargers from 1982–1985. During this time he developed a cocaine addiction that found the NFL star in a tailspin as he began feeding his habit. After his second season in the NFL and after a weekend-long drug binge, he called out to Jesus Christ, accepted Him, and stopped doing drugs in one day.
After working as a youth pastor and receiving his master’s of divinity degree, he felt called by God to start the Rock Church in San Diego in 2000. The Rock has been one of the nation’s fastest growing and largest churches, with nearly 15,000 people attending one of the Rock’s 21 Sunday services. Pastor Miles has also: initiated Do Something Church, which is dedicated to equipping churches to transform the world by successfully meeting their community’s needs through innovative outreach strategies; written a couple books; and created an app for daily encouragement.
Miles has been married to his wife Debbie since 1984; has three children, Kelly, Kimmie, and Miles Jr.; and is a grandfather.
